I use Ableton Live to create radio shows. I was thinking one day – “Wouldn’t it be great if there was a site where I could get the warp files for tracks I own?”.
After much searching, I couldn’t find one.
So, I sat down with Tom and we decided to build warpsauce.
FAQ
Do I need to pay for these warp files?
This site isn’t about the money, we want people who share files with us to be able to download all the files they want for free, so that’s how we’ve set it up. You upload files, we’ll give you credits (plural) to download the ones you want.
But… there are always those who will just download everything in site without giving anything back… and that would cost us money, so if people want to just download, they can buy credits (priced to cover costs) and we’ll add a little bit of advertising for those partners who want to reach Ableton users.
If we reach a point where advertising covers the costs of running the site, we’ll stop charging.
Are you affiliated with Ableton in any way?
Nope. As much as we love Ableton Live and would have it’s babies if it so wanted, we are not in any way affiliated with Ableton… hence why we chose not to use “live” or “ableton” in our website name.
Who are Luke & Tom?
Luke trains business people to use the internet (see here), its a kinda cool job that means he does talks across the UK and meets a lot of interesting people. He’s also know as Luke Dubyah, a radio DJ on FIREradio and Slinky.fm, as well as club nights like Slinky & Jellys Last Jam.
Tom is a web developer and a music fan, with regular attendance at both club nights and live concerts. Currently, Tom is looking into producing some little bits-and-bobs for the iPhone and other portable devices, amongst some other cool stuff.
(For the record – Tom is a mac, Luke is a PC)
And a new addition to the team, Amy, who’s she then?
Amy is a music, fashion, lifestyle, art and travel fan with a passion for boating and watersports. When she’s not dreaming of being on the water she’s busy being a PR person fresh out of uni – embracing all things PR and keen to get involved with the social media side of things.
